The Great Pinochle Tourney of Ninety-Six
We had a pinochle tourney on New Years Day for eight years.
Contestants were Bob & Lois White, Robert and Pat McDonnell, Rosalie and Smitty and Jeanne and Nelson Lynch.
We started at noon, played eight games, took a few beer and wine breaks and ate a few choice tid bits. The winner received the Silver Teapot trophy. It was polished to a high degree and mounted on mahogany.
Then the hosts provided a meal fit for a king.
The poem, written by Nelson, was read before the tournament started along with a tout sheet and a menu.
Knowledge of pinochle would be nice but not essential.
The poem will be sent tomorrow.
