We took a ride today to the Mimbres River valley. It’s about a forty mile ride past the Santa Risa Copper mine. A huge mine. a couple miles wide and 1600 feet deep. Mountains of slag and tailings.
There is a Mimbres Indian culture and Mimbres pottery designs,. The valley is about a mile wide and one end and tapers to a few hundred yards. The river is no more than a big ditch. Getting there is through rugged country..
We had lunch in the same restaurant three years ago. (Restaurant Del Sol)

    Hi Nelson,

I haven’t written much lately because I have a nasty cold–asthma type thing. Sore throat, cough, wheeze, the whole bit. Dr. not a lot of help.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I remember the copper mines from visiting several spots in Arizona about 20 years ago when my dad retired out there. Also, the Mimbres pottery sounds familiar.

Glad you’re getting to see some interesting things. We enjoy hearing about your travels.
