It’s Sunday and we are in Deming, New Mexico. Down in the south-west corner area. It was a short trip from Las Cruces but we had to hang out until Monday. Then we can check into the log cabin in the Gila Wilderness and national forest.
This morning, since we had time to kill, we took a back road to Rockhound National Park. People can walk anywhere and take ten pounds of rock. We were on the jasper trail but we didn’t know jasper from a geode. Jeanne picked up a few pebbles and I picked up one. Clyde didn’t like it because all the rock and prickly plants hurt his paws. A few miles away was
Spruce Canyon Park. All uphill, narrow roads and rock paths. I climbed 100 feet up a rocky path. That was enough.
It is blowing a very strong gale today. Tumbleweeds are flying across roads. Minor dust storms are around bare fields.
We are heading for Gila, NM, tomorrow.
From the road.
